Everything you need to know for a smooth-running day, from where to go for lunch to completing a risk assessment.
planning your educational visit to aerospace bristol
Take your school group on an exciting journey through time and discover the fascinating role that Bristol played in the history of aviation, and stories of the remarkable people who made this possible.
We hope that you will find everything you need here to plan a fun, educational and safe visit to Aerospace Bristol.
Preparing your visit
Enjoy a free preliminary visit to plan what you'll see and do on the day and to familiarise yourself with the site.
Browse our exciting and engaging workshops and select which you would like to do, and please contact us at learning@aerospacebristol.org to check availability, confirm your place, and reserve a space for lunch.
We advise that you book your education sessions well in advance, and we recommend at least four hours for your visit, as this will allow you plenty of time to explore the museum. If you are bringing a group of 100 or more, then please contact us as far in advance as possible to avoid disappointment. Our sessions are available between 10.15am and 4pm on weekdays throughout the year.
Risk assessment
Activities for schools are designed with full consideration of the risks involved. We recommend a member of school staff visit the museum to complete a risk assessment based on the needs and requirements of the school and within the appropriate local authority’s guidelines. We welcome schools to send one member of staff from the school to visit beforehand to do this with no charge.
FREE ADULTS:
Reception to Year 5: 1 adult to every 6 children
Year 6 to Year 8: 1 adult to every 8 children
Year 9 to Year 13: 1 adult to every 10 children
Before you visit, please ensure all adult helpers are familiar with the schedule and activities for the day.
If you have booked a workshop, please be aware that your workshop leader will ask for the class teacher’s help to divide the class into smaller groups. Teachers and supervising adults will need to stay with their children throughout the visit, including the workshops.
