HRH The Princess Royal becomes Patron of Aerospace Bristol
The team creating the new Aerospace Bristol museum received an enormous boost to their efforts when HRH The Princess Royal accepted the Bristol Aero Collection Trust’s invitation to be their Patron. In a letter received from The Princess Royal’s office at Buckingham Palace, Her Royal Highness said that she would be delighted to become Patron for the next two years.
Opening in Summer 2017, Aerospace Bristol is currently planning the exhibitions, learning and events programme with the aim of inspiring young people to consider careers in Science, Technology and Engineering, skills that are much needed in the region.
Iain Gray CBE, Chairman of the Trust said, ‘I am most grateful to Her Royal Highness for so kindly agreeing to become our Patron. This news is a major fillip to all our supporters and particularly the volunteers who are hard at work preparing the exhibits ready for display prior to the move to the new museum site. The Princess has an interest in science, technology and engineering and has visited Filton on previous occasions’.
Mr. Gray went on to say that he hoped very much that The Princess might accept an invitation to visit the Bristol Aerospace Centre during her time as Patron to see the museum and learning centre taking shape.
