Our Bristol Aero Talks Series is free and you do not need to book. Please arrive at 7:15pm at our admissions for the talk which take place in the John James Theatre.

Tuesday 6th October, 19:15: World Space Week
From Prospero to Mars – an overview of the spacecraft built by Filton’s engineers that explored the Universe (and looked down to Earth too)
Since the late 1960s over 70 spacecraft have carried hardware into space, designed and built in and around Filton, Bristol. They have visited Halley’s Comet, monitored the Sun, explored the magnetosphere, landed on the planet Mars, and much more. Working with the European Space Agency, NASA and companies across Europe, Filton’s engineers designed built and tested hardware (and software) – and often helped to launch the spacecraft.
This illustrated talk by a veteran ‘Assembly and Test’ engineer tells the story.

Tuesday 13th October, 19:15:
Paul Shepherd, a retired RAF navigator, will be giving his lecture based on his involvement in the 1982 Falklands conflict. He considers the operational and logistic impact of deploying a large scale force at extreme range with minimal third party support . He also outlines the Vulcan Black Buck sorties, the longest range bombing operations achieved at that time.
