Bristol Aero Talk: Flying the Shuttleworth Bristol Boxkite Replica

Tuesday 14th January, 7:15pm, The John James Theatre

The Bristol Boxkite replica flying at the Shuttleworth Season Premiere Airshow in 2018

The British and Colonial Aeroplane Company Boxkite first flew on 30 July 1910 at Larkhill, and a total of 78 airframes were constructed. Although no original aircraft survive, three replicas were built for the film Those Magnificent Men in Their Flying Machines, one of which is housed in the Shuttleworth Collection. Dodge Bailey, a pilot for the Shuttleworth Trust, will give a talk on flying this Bristol Boxkite replica.

Pre booking is not required for this event, it is open to the public at Aerospace Bristol.

Story Cafe at Aerospace Bristol

Mondays during term time, 10 am to 10:30 am, Aerospace Bristol Cafe

Join us between 10:00 am to 10:30 am every Monday during term time where Aerospace Bristol’s learning team will be reading a story in the Museum Cafe. These sessions are free to attend, and museum admission is not required. Story time is on the following dates:

  • Monday 18th November

  • Monday 2nd December

  • Monday 9th December

  • Monday 16th December

As well as Story time, we have a colouring station in the Cafe and a great outdoor play area for the children to enjoy.

This is a fantastic opportunity for early years to engage with the museum through stories about Planes, Transport & Space. Our Story Cafe is suitable for children aged 12 months to 4 years old, but all are welcome.

Whilst you're here, you can purchase a selection of fab refreshments from our Cafe also!
