What is there to do at the museum?

Aerospace Galleries

Starting in the early 1900s, you will explore over 100 years of aviation history. Your journey will take you through two world wars. You will explore the vital role of aircraft in these global conflicts, through the drama and technological advances of the space race and on to the modern day, and discover the latest technologies of today’s aerospace industry.

You will find out how a small, pioneering company manufactured some of the earliest aeroplanes at Filton, evolved over the decades to influence the course of aviation history and shaped the world we see today.

With hundreds of exhibits from small model aircrafts to helicopters, rockets and missiles, your students will be able to explore the galleries and discover more about the local history. View a list of our main exhibits >

The Concorde Hangar

Aerospace Bristol is home to Concorde Alpha Foxtrot: the last of the iconic supersonic passenger jets to be built and the last to fly.

You will find a projection show of three short films displayed onto the side of the aircraft telling its remarkable history before you step aboard. Explore the exhibition gallery showcasing a fascinating collection of memorabilia including a pilot’s uniform, model and a flight deck.

The Conservation in Action Workshop

Situated in a restored Grade II listed WWI aircraft hangar, built around 1915, the latest addition to Aerospace Bristol allows your students to get up-close to conservation projects - including the Bristol Freighter and Bolingbroke.

Play area and Gazebo

There is an outdoor play area situated between the hangars. There is also a gazebo, which is a good place to stop if your students need a snack during their visit.
