Gift Aid costs nothing,
but helps a lot!

Gift Aid is a government scheme which enables charities such as the Bristol Aero Collection Trust to claim and extra 25p for every £1 donated, at no extra cost to the donor. That means that a £50 donation can be worth £62.50 to the museum at no extra cost to you!

What we can claim Gift Aid on

We are able to claim Gift Aid on kind donations, and also on museum tickets. Our tickets qualify for Gift Aid because they free returns to visitors for a year.

What we need to claim Gift Aid

In order for your kind donations to be eligible for Gift Aid, you must be a UK tax payer and you must pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CASCs) that you donate will reclaim on your gifts for that tax year.

In order to claim Gift Aid on your donation, we need to know:

  • your full name

  • the first line of your home address

  • your postcode

When you make a Gift Aid Declaration, all donations you have made to Bristol Aero Collection Trust (BACT) in the last four years and all donations you make from the date of your declaration, unless you notify BACT otherwise, are treated as Gift Aid donations.

Cancelling or amending your gift aid declaration

Please notify our Fundraising Team if you:

  • wish to cancel your Gift Aid declaration

  • change your name or home address

  • no longer pay sufficient tax on your income and/or capital gains

Higher rate taxpayers

If you pay tax above the basic rate, you can claim the difference between the rate you pay and basic rate on your donation. It’s the same if you live in Scotland. Do this either:

Example You donate £100 to Aerospace Bristol – we can claim Gift Aid to make your donation £125. You pay 40% tax so you can personally claim back £25.00 (£125 x 20%).

Gift Aid Declaration

I confirm that I am a UK taxpayer and I have paid or will pay an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for each year that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all the charities or Community Amateur Sports Clubs (CACS) that I donate to will reclaim on my gifts for that tax year, or I will pay the difference. If you pay Income Tax at the higher or additional rate and want to receive the additional tax relief due to you, include all your Gift Aid donations on your Self-Assessment tax return or ask HM Revenue and Customs to adjust your tax code.  Funds raised, after allowing for Fundraising Department expenses, will be applied to the BACT projects and objectives. If an identified objective cannot be met, the net income will be applied to similar projects or objectives, as will any surplus.
