The Bristol Bolingbroke moved as a whole aeroplane for the first time in half a century!
The Bolingbroke 9048 has moved as a complete aeroplane for the first time in at least 50 years!
Today, the Conservation volunteers were tasked with moving the Bolingbroke across the hangar, marking the first time it has been moved as a whole aeroplane in half a century.
When the war ended in 1945, the aeroplane was then used by Canada, where it was repainted yellow over its original camouflage and used as a trainer for the Commonwealth Air Training Plan. Years later, it was purchased by an American and transported across countries to its new home. That journey was likely the last time the aeroplane was moved as a complete unit—until now.
