‘Look Up! The Story of Hot Air Ballooning in Bristol’ launched at Aerospace Bristol
On Tuesday, 23rd July, Aerospace Bristol and Cameron Balloons officially opened their collaborative summer exhibition, 'Look Up! The Story of Hot Air Ballooning in Bristol,' with a special launch event.
The event attracted a large audience, including special guests from Aerospace Bristol and Cameron Balloons, staff from both organizations, museum volunteers and members, media representatives, and several pioneering balloonists.
Sally Cordwell, CEO of Aerospace Bristol, expressed her excitement: “We are thrilled to have put together this fantastic exhibition for our visitors and are so pleased to celebrate the opening with you.”
Don Cameron MBE, founder of Cameron Balloons, spoke about Bristol's deep-rooted love for ballooning: “It is a great honor to be a part of the [Bristol Balloon Fiesta] tradition, and I hope we can continue for many years to come.”
Aerospace Bristol extends its heartfelt gratitude to Cameron Balloons for their passion and enthusiasm in this partnership. The summer exhibition presents an incredible opportunity to experience and celebrate two of Bristol’s engineering marvels in one place.
Guests enjoyed viewing various hot air ballooning components such as a basket, burner, half-balloon display, and Concorde hot air balloon seats before the exhibition opens to the public tomorrow.
The exhibition also features items from iconic balloons, including the original burner and envelope of Bristol Belle, Britain’s first modern hot air balloon, and the fabric and registration plate from Orbiter 3, the first balloon to complete a non-stop flight around the world.
‘Look Up!’ opens on Wednesday, 24th July, and runs until Sunday, 1st September. The exhibition offers a behind-the-scenes look at how hot air balloons are made and provides visitors with a chance to enjoy a packed programme of balloon-themed family activities.
