Aerospace Bristol celebrates summer of ‘Look Up! The Story of Hot Air Ballooning in Bristol’

From Wednesday, July 24th, until Sunday, September 1st, Aerospace Bristol proudly hosted ‘Look Up!’—a temporary summer exhibition created in collaboration with Cameron Balloons, based in Bedminster.

The exhibition celebrated Bristol’s distinctive hot air ballooning heritage, featuring items such as the Bristol Belle, Britain’s first modern hot air balloon, and components from the Breitling Orbiter 3, the first balloon to achieve a non-stop circumnavigation of the globe. Visitors also enjoyed a range of interactive, balloon-themed activities designed to spark their creativity.

To celebrate ‘Look Up!’, Aerospace Bristol also held a Virtual Balloon Race from August 22nd to 29th, which raised essential funds for the museum’s learning program aimed at inspiring the next generation of engineers.

In addition, the museum hosted Big Balloon Weekend, the Floating on Air Science show, and a special talk by Brian Jones, the pilot of the Breitling Orbiter 3 balloon.

Aerospace Bristol extends its heartfelt gratitude to all visitors who contributed to the success of ‘Look Up!’ and offers a special shoutout to our dedicated staff and incredible volunteers whose hard work ensured the summer ran smoothly.
