Community Gather for VE & VJ Day Project

To commemorate the 80th anniversary of VE & VJ Day 2025, we've been gathering stories from local people with lived experience of WW2 to help enrich our story-telling on site, bring new perspectives into our Filton Blitz experience, and inform our school's sessions.

It was special to welcome many of the participants to Aerospace Bristol to celebrate their contribution to this project, and share our new story map resource with them for feedback and reflections.

This resource will capture their stories through written text, audio and visuals; creating an opportunity for our visitors to step back in time and walk in the footsteps of those who experienced family members working at BAC (Bristol Aeroplane Company) during WW2 and the impact this had on their childhood experience.

Look out for more information on when the story map will be available.

This project has been made possible with funding by the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and awarded by Museum Development South West with thanks to support from Arts Council England.
