Spiral galaxies captured through Hubble’s lens

The Hubble Space Telescope recently captured images of spiral galaxies NGC 2566 and NGC 337.

Since its launch in 1990, the Hubble Space Telescope has been taking fascinating images of space and expanding its understanding.

Filton played a significant role in the Hubble telescope mission as British Aerospace (Bae) was the prime contractor for the Photon Detector Assembly (the heart of the Faint Object Camera).

Before its removal in 2002, the Faint Object Camera (FOC) provided many remarkable Hubble images, including the first-ever direct image of a star. British Aerospace also developed another cutting-edge project – the telescope’s first and second sets of 25-foot-long Solar Arrays.
